The Characteristics Improvement of Resonance Frequency on Circular Wave Guide by Using Artificial Circular Dielectric Resonator Abstract — Wave guide is one of a guided wave devices in microwave communication system such as filter has the unique characteristic passing frecuency higher than its frequency cut-off . It needs an electromagnetic material that is a dielectric which its function as a resonator. In its application as microwave filters, waveguide equipped with a dielectric resonator which can produce waves with certain frequency and wave mode. Cut-off frequency of the adjacent modes on the natural dielectric resonator has a close range, so the unwanted wave modes can appear beside dominant mode. Therefore, a dielectric resonator with the mode selective characteristic, extraordinarily large permittivity and anisotropis is needed. One of the solution is making a man made material or artificial dielectric that as possible have a high anistropic permittivity. In this paper, an artificial circular dielectric resonator which has a simple structure made from a stack of PCB is investigated. Its basic structure is a metal ring with and without gap. We observe effect of the metal strips and gaps on the parameter respons and that produces low frequency and wider inter-mode frequency. Many kinds of artificial circular dielectrics composed of open ring metal strips on PCB and inserted in a circular waveguide have been simulated using HFFS® and two of them have been realized. The experiment results reveal that artificial circular dielectric which have 1 strips 4 gaps and 2 strips 4 gaps structure with different gap positions that produces the lowest resonance frequency of the TE01δ mode operated at S band frecuency and the resonant frequency shifting varies from 15 MHz to 30 MHz with return loss close to 10 dB.   Tulisan abstract ini saya edit sedikit dari tulisan Rizqa Hanifah, mahasiswa STEI yang baru lulus Sarjana Juni 2012 lalu atas seijin pembimbing Achamd Munir, dr.
